Quick Fire 0.3.0 Development Progress
(Quick Fire Dev Branch can be found at https://microman502.itch.io/quick-fire-dev-branch)
Hey everyone! I've been working hard on a new update, and this one is set to change things up a lot. The development preview for 0.3.0, the first major update, is out now! It's absolutely not final, everything is still missing models, polish, and detailing, but it is getting better gameplay-wise.
This won't be a full list of changes, that will come with the full release of 0.3.0, but here's what you can expect:
Improved Class System. Classes have been improved, so that each one now has its own loadout (note that these aren't saved properly yet!). This is because many items are now class-locked, so items such as the Oppressor will only be availiable to the Heavy and Medium class. There is also a new Mage class, wielding the improved Lifestealer Crossbow and Meteor Staff! There is still much to be done for this class gameplay-wise, but the functionality is there.
New Map. I've taken a different approach to map creation this time, resulting in a larger and hope more interesting map. I've done my best to make sure there are plenty of routes to travel, interesting areas, as well as making it especially large! Expect lots of verticality here.
New Movement and Movement Abilities. The movement wasn't very nice before, so i've made an effort to improve it. It's much more similar to Team Fortress 2 now (including rocket jumping...), making movement fairly precise, and also making things like the Oppressor slowdown apply better mid-air. There are also 2 movement abilities, Leap and Slam.
Leap provides a vertical and horizontal boost forward, allowing you to move further and faster along maps. This works especially well in the new map.
Slam provides a strong downwards force to allow you to perform more precise landings and get down from high areas and into a fight quickly.
New Items and Reworks. There's only a few, but they should give some needed variety.
First is the Gas Grenade, which explodes into a gas cloud, poisoning anyone that goes into it. It's not very strong, but does not weight much either.
Second is the Chainsaw, a fairly heavy but very damaging melee with short range. If you manage to get near someone, you can shred their health fairly quickly.
Thirdly is the Meteor Staff, a rapid-firing explosive weapon available only to the Mage. This shoots a large flurry of small explosives that can deal decent damage and deal knockback that can disrupt an enemies' movement.
Finally, the rework is for the Lifestealer Crossbow. This is now only available to the Mage, and is a primary. It shoots three small bolts in a horizontal volley, dealing 25 damage each and still healing just as before.
Hopefully these changes make for a more enjoyable experience, but if not, tweaks and changes can always be made! Tell me in the comments or on the discord if you have any ideas.
